“IT’S BETTER TO BE BAD” HALLOWEEN BALL ROCKS THE TOP OF THE PELHAM

GHOULS & GUESTS RULE AT RAUCOUS NEWPORT PARTY

Newport, RI. | October 29, 2022

If it’s hot, and behind a velvet rope, then you know Newport Living & Lifestyles will be there. And if Newport Living & Lifestyles is THROWING the event, then you better be there because it is going to be epic.

And EPIC it was, as Newport’s own hostess with the mostess, Newport Living & Lifestyles CEO Christon Gibson hosted THE Halloween Party of the 2022 season; the first annual “It’s Better to be Bad” Ball.

Conjuring up the creepy, costumed revelers packed the Top of the Pelham as the party space was transformed into a den of delicious debauchery. Newporters threw caution, and maybe their dignity, to the wind as media displays, a DJ and live musicians drank and danced into the wee small hours.

Touted as an evening of liberating libations and purging pretensions, the event did not disappoint. Far from it. There was complimentary bubbly for the first 50 guests, VIP booths, bottle service, and cash prizes for the costumed contestants.

It is fair to say that the 1st Annual “Bad Ball” will go down as the party that made the Salem Witch Trials look like a day at the county fair.

$250 MOST ORIGINAL PRIZE went to : Dark Snow White

$250 MOST ORIGINAL GROUP PRIZE went to:  The Addams Family

The Sensual Evening in the World of the Alfred Vanderbilt Mansion

THE LEGENDARY MANSION HOSTS DINNER WITH A DASH OF DECANDENCE

Newport, RI. | October 20, 2022

Always at the forefront of glamour and style, The Vanderbilt Auberge Mansion hosted a sold out dinner theater experience featuring captivating, and sensual performances, from No Ring Circus.

Newport Living & Lifestyles was on-hand {of course} to bring you the inside scoop from beyond the velvet rope. Definitely one of the best parties of the year, the team at the Vanderbilt pulled out all the stops for their guests.

Featuring an indulgent multi-course menu and unlimited champagne, the Library and Parlour spaces became activated from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm with specialty cocktails and additional performances from No Ring Circus. “The Cabinet of Curiosities” offered guests a chance to step into the seductive, unconventional, and fabulous world of Alfred Vanderbilt (who knew!) and celebrate the mansion as the destination for eccentricity, exploration, and glamour.

Ticket prices included a multi-course tasting menu, open bar, and access to the interactive cocktail hour from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm following the dinner.

A portion of the proceeds will go to the Potter League, Rhode Island’s most comprehensive animal welfare organization, offering shelter, community education, community support, and access to essential veterinary care for companion animals.

Historic Clarke Cook House origin

Sea-captain Clarke Cooke built the original house just across from the wharfs on Thames Street in 1780. Nearly 200 years later, as part of a plan to restore Bannister’s Wharf to its original glory as a commercial hub, David Ray purchased the building and spent six months moving it, piece-by-piece, to the wharf in 1973.

Pumpkin Shaped Gnocchi Recipe

Here’s a simple but visually stunning holiday dish that will “wow” your guests with a great taste and stunning presentation. And the best part? You’ll look like a master chef when you bring it to the table!

While I am not generally in the lead role in the kitchen, that’s hubby’s job, he played the part of wine sipper in chief and left me to it.     I had attempted making Gnocchi once before, in Italy, under the close supervision and guidance of chef Gianluca D’Esposito and his wife, Holly Star, at their beautiful Ristorante Michel’angelo in Capri. Seen here and if you are interested in an Italy experience Gianluca and Holly are currently offering cooking classes in the comfort of their picturesque garden villa and most recently collaborating with EATALY holding cooking classes at their USA and Canadian locations in 2020. See http://www.caprimichelangelo.com/cooking.html for more details!

If you would like to make the Pumpkin shaped gnocchi here is the experience.    Once I got started creating the dough, I began to relax and found the essence of cooking a new dish to be less intimidating than I thought and I quite enjoyed the process. The dish turned out delicious while also being visually stimulating. I give credit to FoodWithLiz.com where I found this recipe. It’s a winner for holiday dinner parties and a fun dish to prepare with your partner.

I may have used regular butter 😀 and found that the 00 napoli antimo caputo flour worked very well. * tip def freeze the dough for 30 minutes.  Try some meatballs on the side and you have a Husband approved party dish ready to serve!

The Vanderbilt Experience

We got the GRANDE tour at The Vanderbilt, Auberge Resorts Collection. It has an entirely new feel. Elegant and dapper with floor to ceiling navy blue in sportsman style. The former mansion built by Alfred Vanderbilt is filled with new and vintage furnishings, custom hand-drawn wallpaper with a modern pop.The property also debuted a new gastronomy and mixology program: a fully reconceptualized signature restaurant, The Dining Room, alongside new menus and eye-catching designs at the resort’s three additional dining destinations; The Conservatory, The Garden, The Roof Deck with views of downtown and the bay.The renovations by SWOON are a must see. It is quickly becoming a vibrant social hub for Newport and is walking distance to downtown.
