NEWPORT, R.I. – The 2022 Newport Flower Show filled Rosecliff with displays of color and creativity from June 17 through 19. Hundreds of gardeners submitted floral arrangements, botanical arts creations and horticultural specimens that were displayed in the Salon, Ballroom, Dining Room and Terrace.

Unseen from the street, a shade garden oasis awaits. Beds of “Elephant Ears” surround towering trees while a glistening azure pool and cabana beckon Cheeveresque swimmers on their journey. This day, the assembled crowd made donations to the association while sipping champagne nibbling on shrimp hors d’oeuvres provided by THE POUR PEOPLE III. Local artist William Heydt, unveiled his new book of watercolors that features Newport residents inhabiting their favorite haunts throughout town.

The Preservation Society in newport Rhode Island organized a special visit with the Lady Fiona Carnarvon to give her history and accounts of her experience through the filming of Julian fellows HBO series “Downton Abbey” . Every unique lunch, dinner and gala package offered by the Preservation Society SOLD OUT. Each offered a personalized conversation of the Highclere history, including past owners, what it is like to run a the 300 room estate, the creation of the sustainable farm to bring health back to animals and ultimately humans, the inspiration behind the award winning Highclere Castle Gin and much much more all documented here in this recording.
Lady Carnarvon was very down to earth in her tennis shoes and linen clothes. She was funny, witty and full of life. June 9th 2022 In advance of her visit, Trudy Coxe and Lady Carnarvon discuss the joys and challenges of maintaining a 300-room castle with 1,200 years of history and more than 1,000 acres of landscape. The wife of Geordie, the 8th Earl of Carnarvon and the comparisons of running the preservation society estates and the Highclare Castle
Lady Carnarvon began her career as an author by writing the guidebook to Highclere and a guide to the Egyptian exhibition which transported visitors back to Ancient Egypt. Lady Carnarvon has written two historical books, “Lady Almina”, a New York Times Bestseller, which covers First World War when Highclere was actually a hospital and “Lady Catherine” which looks at the twenties and thirties and the Second World War through the real inhabitants, both upstairs and downstairs. These contain fascinating comparisons and similarities with “Downton Abbey”. Her last bestseller, “At Home at Highclere,” is a coffee table book which documents an insight into life at Highclere Castle. Food is a key theme throughout the book, having played an important social role in the lives of the Earls of Carnarvon bringing people together, and Lady Carnarvon includes some favourite recipes from the mid-nineteenth century to the present day.

The US Open. The French Open. Wimbledon. Names that evoke the world class standing of professional tennis as both a sporting event and cultural experience. Inside the 1920’s Mediterranean Revival Estate, 24 designers transformed 24 rooms and living spaces into unique visions of their own take on contemporary style. The variety, execution and quality of each were not only exceptional but also groundbreaking; a “must-see” for architects, interior designers, set designers and anyone who relishes the joy and glamor of a livable “show home.” Many of the rooms have gone on to spark global interior design trends! How that for influence?
From Italian and French Modernism to campy cabana to a mobile of aluminum butterflies, the rich visual tapestry from room to room was a stunning reminder of how inspired creativity can transform a home into a visual wonderland.
The idea behind the Kips Bay Decorator Home came about in 1973 in Manhattan and has been going strong ever since. The Palm Beach Estate is the first of what the organization hopes will be many such “satellite” homes. All the proceeds from the event benefit the local branches of the Kips Bay Boys and Girls club; to fund after school and enrichment programs for city children.

For 47 years, Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club has celebrated the best of interior design by transforming a luxury Manhattan home into an elegant exhibition of fine furnishings, art, and technology. This all began in 1973 when several dedicated supporters of Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club launched the Kips Bay Decorator Show House in Manhattan to raise critical funds for much needed after school and enrichment programs for New York City children. For more than four decades, the Show House has been a must-see event for thousands of design enthusiasts, renowned for sparking interior design trends throughout the world. In 2017, Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club expanded the brand to Palm Beach, with the fourth iteration of the Kips Bay Palm Beach Decorator Show House taking place in April 2021. Newport’s Bellevue Avenue Mansions District took center stage as a dozen local businesswomen and influencers donned their spring finery and held court with their precious pooches along the toney avenue.
