Welcome to Newport Living and Lifestyles ! I am Christon and I am here with Trixie, Marketing Manager of Bowen’s Wharf. She is going to tell us more about the 3rd Annual Oyster Festival !
So thrilled your here to see that we are on the waterfront and we are getting ready to bring in 13 oyster growers from all around the Ocean State and a bunch of fantastic sponsors!
So, I hear that there is a BIG party Friday May 18th , tell us more about that!
You are right! 6-830PM , right here at Bowen’s Wharf under the festival tents $125 for all the oysters you can eat , open bar and your own Moet mini. I always say Moway (Moet)?
So did I, then I asked and I asked again and it is Moet and Chandon, so we are in the know.
So they are your biggest sponsor? They are! They are our presenting sponsor , so they are giving everyone a Moet mini with a sipper when you walk into the Friday night fundraiser and they will pouring champagne by the glass after that, because it is open bar. So , $125 a ticket for Friday night with all the food you can eat and drink, Is there an opportunity for the attendees to win anything? Definitely! You could win a 3 persons helicopter ride and see Newport from the sky, you could win pearls from Keil James Patrick (better looking pearls than these, I dressed up for you!) you get out on a sail with a master with Cloudy Bay Vineyards on schooner Aquidneck!
Oh Perfect ! So tell us about Saturday and Sunday May 19th and 20th!
So , Starting Saturday morning 11AM , festival opens, we have 3 live bands each day, over
13 oyster growers from all around the Ocean State and you will get 6 free oysters with
every bracelet and then after that you can buy the oysters directly so its like a fun
market place! We have sampling stations and 5 waterfront bars and we also have non seafood dishes and cooked dishes as well from the different restaurants. The Landing, Wharf Pub and Binge BBQ and then Sunday , same drill different musicians , more
fresh oysters , freshly shucked while you wait and then it wraps up with a shucking
contest at 3pm.
That sounds like a fun weekend of shopping, dining and drinking right here in Newport
.; Who are the beneficiary’s?
Good Question, so of the entire festival it is The Nature Conservancy and they collect
all the shells from the entire weekend and they rebuild the reefs for fish habitats and
The Ocean State Aquaculture Association and The States Official Sailing Education Vessel
is the Oliver Hazard Perry tall ship. Three beneficiary’s of the weekend, so come eat drink.
It’s going to great recipients!
Thanks so much for having us Trixie !
We look forward to seeing you on Newport Living and Lifestyles!
