The Universal Promise Gala at Glen Manor House in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, is an annual event that strikes a unique mix of positive energy, generosity, and a commitment to global responsibility and the education of children, no matter where they live. Founded in 2011, Universal Promise is a Rhode Island nonprofit that funds education to achieve and sustain equity in rural South Africa. Each year the gathering features delicious hors d’oeuvres, a signature cocktail, wine, beer, and an array of non-alcoholic beverages, as well as music, dancing, auction items, a re-cap of the year’s achievements, and specific, meaningful goals for the night: anything from building a computer lab and a playground to renovating classrooms, funding school uniforms and shoes, and offering student leadership camps and professional development. We hope you will join us, either as longstanding supporters or as newcomers, to inspire sustainable change that evolves from the ground UP and not the bottom down. Thank you! No, It is not Christmas… Marc Mainville explains why they keep their Christmas Tree up all year long! He is a man of many Mentor statistics backed by his experience mentoring and his 10 year tenure as Director of Operations. He is passionate and knowledgeable. He explains that MentorRI supports 60 Programs and schools in RI including Aquidneck Island Mentoring, Martin Luther King Center and Boys and Girls Club. Marc states that these are not kids that need fixing, they just need someone else to talk to and expand their horizons.
